Real World Learning Through a Game
Every UMAR Painting Co. job helps fund our youth apprenticeship program with Building Boys to Men Inc. Young people in Philadelphia learn real-world painting skills inside a video game we built — prepping walls, choosing colors, meeting customers and finishing the job — before they ever pick up a brush on a real crew.
Watch the Game in Action
Part 1 — Taking the job: talking to the customer and scoping the work.
Part 2 — Doing the work: real painting steps, earned in-game.
Why a Game?
- Learn by doing. Players practice the same steps our crews use on real Philadelphia homes — prep, prime, cut, roll, clean up.
- Work ethic, not just skills. Show up, finish the job, earn the reward. The game rewards the habits that make a great tradesperson.
- A path to a paycheck. Apprentices who complete the program can join UMAR Painting Co. crews as paid trainees.
- You make it possible. Choosing UMAR Painting Co. for your project directly supports youth in our community.
